What is the Ideal Weight While Pregnant?

In general, a woman's body will gain weight during pregnancy. However, that does not mean you should too fat when pregnant.
 Conditions mothers who are overweight can cause a variety of disorders in the mother and fetus. That's why it was important to weight control during pregnancy.



In the first trimester weight will increase relatively little or no increase at all, even body weight tends to decrease because of vomiting. The weight will increase sharply as already trimester 2 and 3. In this period the weight should be controlled properly.

 Normally, the weight will increase by 12-15 kg during pregnancy. In the 2nd trimester the fetus will grow up to 10 grams per day. At week 16, the baby will grow to about 90 grams, the 20th week as much as 256 grams, week 24 of about 690 grams, and 27 weeks to as much as 900 grams.Some sources classify normal weight gain during pregnancy based on your body mass index before pregnancy, as follows:


Criteria Normal Body Weight Increase In Pregnancy:


    Pregnant women who previously had an underweight body weight with a body mass index (BMI) of 18.5 less, the increase in body weight is considered normal when weight increases from 13 to 18 kg.
    Pregnant women who previously had normal weight with a body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 and 24.9, the weight gain is said to be normal if it increases 11 to 16 kg.


    Maternal overweight with a body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 29.9, the increase in body weight is considered normal when pregnant women increased weight of 7 to 11 kg.


    Mothers who are obese before pregnancy body mass index (BMI) over 30, the increase in body weight is considered normal during pregnancy when the weight increases of 5 to 9 kg.


Ideally, body weight at the start of pregnancy expectant mothers ranged from 45 to 65 kg. Expectant mothers who weigh less (underweight) or excess (overweight) can pose a risk to both mother and fetus in the womb.
Excess body weight (overweight) can cause a variety of negative impacts on both mother and fetus during pregnancy, childbirth, or after childbirth. Here are some of the impact when the mother is overweight during pregnancy:

While the condition of underweight babies will also experience impaired growth and threatened premature birth and babies at risk of birth defects. To avoid this, pregnant women are encouraged to eat nutritious food qualified and balanced nutrition. In women who are underweight, the recommended weight gain was 0.5 kg per week.
